DO NOT PLUG IN THE USB DONGLE BEFORE THE c STEP. a - Put the RIDO CD-ROM on a drive. If the installation process do not start, click on 'Start' and on 'Run' and enter the command : E:\AUTORUN.EXE if, for example, the CD-ROM drive is E: b - A dialog box allows to : - Read and print the actual file "README.TXT" - Know the installation state of the key driver - Install the key driver - Install the RIDO program - Read and print the user's manual in English or French language - Explore the CD-ROM The executable files are put on the folder \RIDO420\RIDO The folder ...\RIDO420\DOC will contains the user manuals in the PDF format. In the folder ...\RIDO420\BIRIDO is a complement to note and to the examples of calculation of two walls in interaction. Shortcuts are put on the desktop, within the 'Start' menu on the entry RIDO and the files with the extension .RIO are connected to WRIDO.EXE (regular starting of RIDO). A data file named TESTRIDO.RIO is present in the folder ...\RIDO420\RIDO for the tests of the installation. c - Plug the RIDO key ("Dongle") on any USB port and test the installation from the program list or the shortcut on the desktop. d - INSTALLATION ON ANOTHER COMPUTER: It is not necessary to "uninstall" RIDO from the first computer. Just install it on the new one. RIDO will run only on the computer with the RIDO key plugged on. e - UNINSTALLATION: To uninstall RIDO, select Add or Remove Programs from the Control Panel. Also you can run ...\RIDO420\RIDO\uninstRIDO.exe To uninstall the key driver run \DRIVER\HSUPP.BAT directly from the CD-ROM (Warn if other applications do not use it !). f - LOCAL NETWORK INSTALLATION OF A SINGLE USER VERSION : If you want to have the RIDO executable files only on a server, you can install RIDO on any shared disk. This one must be seen from any station as a logical disk named by a letter (X: for example). One shortcut to WRIDO.EXE must be created on the desktop and also the environment variable named RIDO of value the path to the folder containing RIDO.EXE, for example : X:\GEOTEC\CALCULUS\RIDO420\RIDO Then RIDO will run only on the station with the RIDO key plugged in and with its installed driver. A network version of RIDO exists with only one network capability key for all the stations. In case of difficulties send a FAX with explanation of problems and the error message number at +33 472258950 (or E-Mail at rfl@fages.com) WINDOWS VISTA/7/8 ================= RIDO V:4.20 and its installation/uninstallation procedures run very well under VISTA/7/8 (if you accept the installation !). However do not put your data in the folder wich contains RIDO.EXE and WRIDO.EXE because in this case WINDOWS VISTA/7 will put your files of results in a virtual folder and can be will have you difficulties finding them. Whatever is the version of WINDOWS it is advised to place the data in so many folders as the treated studies. Examples : D:\Geotec\RIDOdata\BRASILIA D:\Geotec\RIDOdata\DUBAI HARBOR PDF READER ========== One PDF reader is requested for reading the RIDO documentation. The Adobe reader is freely downloadable at : www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html Another solution is to install FoxIt Reader (more speedy !) : Execute FoxiReader..._setup.exe from the folder PDF\PDFreader of the CD-ROM. You can go to the Foxit Reader site launching FoxitReaderSite.exe (also located in the folder PDF\PDFReader). PDF OUTPUTS =========== To outputs the results in PDF format file you must install one virtual printer driver. You can install PDFCreator (free GNU license) launching PDFCreator-...-setup.exe from the folder PDF\PDFCreator of the CD-ROM. Also you can go to the site of PDFCreator launching PDFCreatorSite.exe from the folder PDF\PDFCreator. HPGL PLOTTERS ============= While all the RIDO graphic outputs are made on any WINDOWS compatible printer, it is possible to use a plotter or a printer compatible with the HPGL/2 language. In this case use the GRID.EXE application. You can see its manual on screen launching it without any argument. The two files TRINIT.RID and TRQUIT.RID (modifiable with NOTEPAD.EXE) are here to parametrize the *.PLT files. These files are located in the RIDO subdirectory. Their contents are automatically added on the top and on the end of the HPGL orders of each ploting page. This can be used to place a laser printer in HPGL emulating mode and reset it in character printing mode. Also putting HPGL orders it is possible to choice a new scale. The codes are described on your plotter or printer user's manual. Also you can choice the colors of the curves by the indication of the used pen number in a sequence after the character # on the first line of TRINIT.RID (The six number of pens are in this order for the labels, the displacements, the moments, the cross forces, the differential pressures, the soil pressures). Composition of these files: - a non-displayable code (as ESC) is written by its numerical ASCII code (10 base), one for each line (for example: 27 for ESC), - the characters which can be displayed between ' (for example : '!m'), one string for each line, - blank lines ignored, - every other text after the codes ignored and taken as a comment, For example here is the files for an HP LASERJET III (or DESKJET 1200C) who emulates an HPGL plotter: TRINIT.RID -> #123232 27 '%-1BIN;' TRQUIT.RID -> 27 '%-1A' 27 'E' If the graphics are not turned in landscape orientation, put at the end of the TRINIT.RID file the line: 'RO90;' NOTES ===== - It is possible to launch several instances of WRIDO.EXE. In case of conflict of access to the same data file it will be proposed to work on a copy of this last one with a number added to its name - Two printers can be selected (one for the text outputs and one for the graphic outputs). If printers are the same, the orientation (portrait or landscape) can be different. - Versions 4.20.c and upper : The calculation result files (.GRI estesion) are associated to WRIDO.EXE. The double click on their name gives directly access to the graphic and text results of one previous calculus and eventually to the data. REMARKS ======= - Do not dispatch the executable files of the RIDO package between several folders. - This version run only in 32 or 64 bits environment : WINDOWS 2000/XP/VISTA/7/8. It do not works under WINDOWS 95 or 98. - RUNGO.EXE is a specific "framework" for RIDO which implements original technique of functioning in parallelism. Sometimes some antivirus with option of heuristic analysis make a detection of unknown virus. It is about a false-positive and it will be advisable if necessary to accept RUNGO.EXE as healthy.
